    Kerala: Human by Nature

I’ve noticed that travel, for me, is defined more by human experiences and connections, rather than the place itself. A personal story that unfurls within a destination goes on to become a beautiful memory, invoking the same emotions every time…

Where to Stay in Dandeli: PC Nature Camp

The knocking was loud. It didn’t stop. ‘KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!’ Sounded a little off, too. This was loud, purposeful and insistent, not like a regular human knock, which is usually a triple-tap and way more polite. I checked my phone.…

Travelling in the Times of COVID-19

In short, don’t. Travelling in the midst of a crisis like COVID-19 isn’t a good idea and won’t be for a while. It’s surreal when you realise you’re living through a global pandemic. None of us may have ever thought…

Dandeli: A Weekend well-spent in the Lap of Nature

The time had rolled around for me to plan a new trip, and I had no idea where to go. I’d just returned from one, and there was a whole new wedding season staring up at me, all of which…

Backpacking Around Sri Lanka – The ULTIMATE guide.

In an absolute first for me, I booked flights to Sri Lanka. Just the flights. Nothing else.  I ended up backpacking around Sri Lanka – the little teardrop-shaped country that’s right next to mine – for nearly a month and…

Unawatuna: 6 Things to Do in Sri Lanka’s Beach Paradise

After nearly a month of travelling around Sri Lanka, I was really looking forward to Unawatuna. After hearing about its beautiful beaches and no dearth of things to do, all I wanted was to stretch out under the sun on…

Weligama and Mirissa: Exploring the South Coast of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is undoubtedly famous for its gorgeous coastline and beautiful beaches that stretch from the south to the west coast. In fact, anyone visiting Sri Lanka on vacation usually favours the South. And with good reason. During season, the…

Arugam Bay: Surfing, and a Little Bit More

I spent the first 58 minutes of my very first surf lesson snorting saltwater and cursing my overoptimistic stupidity for actually thinking I could do this. But then if I’m spending a few days in Arugam Bay, I should totally…

Ella, Sri Lanka: Exploring Sri Lanka’s Hill Country

My stay in Nuwara Eliya had swept me off my feet, and I had fallen head over heels in love with the charming landscapes of Sri Lanka’s hill country. I hopped into a taxi that would whisk 6 of us…

Nuwara Eliya – 3 Days in the Heart of British Ceylon

Rolling tea plantations under a fresh, blue sky and a crispness in the air that made me feel like a very dusty, worn-out version of me had just walked through a sheet of cool water and emerged a new person…

Hi! Im Preethi!

I'm a travel-mad experience chaser who quit corporate to chase what my heart called out for, and here I am blogging, vlogging and podcasting.

I'm a sucker for experiences and all things offbeat. A lot of what you see here is solo, and it remains a favourite style of travel.

Come for the details, stay for the stories :)

I hope you have a good time!

Love, Preethi

  • Catching waves, and how! 🌊🏄🏽‍♀️ The first time I went surfing was in Sri Lanka two years ago. At the time, I felt like it wasn’t for me. THIS TIME though, it’s been crazy different. Our second stop on the caravan trip was Mulki, and we parked at @surfingindia ‘s Mantra Surf Club - India’s first ever surf club. I had a surf lesson with @indiasurfguru and I have to say, Sham, THANK YOU for making this something I want to actually pursue! I had SO MUCH FUN!!! I can’t recommend surfing enough, if you’re someone who loves the ocean or just wants to try something new, and I would absolutely recommend Mantra here in Mulki. The folks here are wonderful coaches and just super fun to hang out with too. @agnaatha.kathaka @saumyadubey @chandanhamse @jayrajsurfer made this such a memorable experience! And of course, @nambiarshashank - thank you for these incredible shots! 🤩 Would you want to try surfing?
  • Morning cuppa in a mobile home for the next two weeks! If you’re following my stories, you already know that I was in Goa for a couple weeks, and then I hopped into a caravan with @millennialladki and @woman_who_wanderz , and I’ll be exploring the coastline right down till Kerala. I’ve done some part of this route before. I was in Kerala two years ago, but that was such a different trip with such different stories. The stories this time are also completely different, and days are unfolding beautifully one after another. I can’t wait to share more from the road with you, so I’m telling you this - I’ll be sharing stories everyday. I’ll be posting too. But I’m documenting this entire trip as vlogs which will go up on my YouTube, and I am EXCITED. Our first stop was Kumta in Karnataka. It’s very close to Gokarna, but without the mad rush. We could park our caravan right by the beach next to @abhilash_aul ‘s homestay, and waking up to the sound of the waves everyday was a different trip of its own. Our little home is cosy and comfortable, and we will be showing you what it’s like (and what we’ve named it) veryyyyy soooooooon!!! More from the road soonest! ♥️ 📸: @woman_who_wanderz
  • It took me five whole days in Goa before I visited a beach 🏝 When I got here, I threw myself into uncovering new layers to Goa, and took the beach for granted. Knowing it was there made me push it to the back of my mind. We’ll get there eventually, I thought. And when I did, I think I lost it 🙈 I turned into a child, squealing and running straight into the waves, which welcomed me as though they were waiting for me all this while. I think I want to spend my life counting sunsets, capturing moments, and just feeling every single emotion through it all, you know? It always amazes me how the littlest of things can bring so much joy 🤩 And I think @travelwithsearats caught all of it in this shot so beautifully 😍 This is Ozran Beach in Vagator, also known as the Sunburn beach. It’s frequented relatively lesser than most other beaches here and it’s totally possible to socially distance and have a good time. For a beach bum like me, it’s basically paradise. • Hello from Goaaaaaa!!! Truth be told, I’ve never understood the allure of Goa. Hear me out. I’ve been here before, and always with friends. I’ve stayed at nice places, eaten a lot of good food, explored the markets, and basically chilled a lot. But I’ve never felt the intense love or connect with the place I’ve felt in Sri Lanka or Indonesia. I’ve never fallen in love with any part of it. It’s usually been a fling. A one-off. Done, and then forgotten. Until now. This time, I’m living in an apartment by myself. I’ve rented out a car, and I’m exploring slowly, steadily, taking each day as it comes. I’m discovering parts of Goa one normally wouldn’t. The parts that lie beyond the booze and the beaches, the ones where time ceases to exist, the ones which are brimming with lore, the ones that are pure heart. So I see it now. I see why people fall in love. I see why people leave their city life behind and come here. Goa lets you be whoever you want to be. It gives you exactly what you’re looking for, if you know where to find it. It lets you choose which version of yourself you want to be every single day. It very gently nudges you into understanding what freedom really means. All it takes is a little uncovering. And me, well, I’m not completely in love yet, but I know I’m falling ♥️ Slowly, and then maybe it’ll happen all at once. This feels like my first time in Goa, and maybe that’s how I want it to be 😊 Are you watching my stories from here?
